Mingde Minimum-Security Prison of Taiwan

Summary: Mingde Minimum-Security Prison is a prison camp. Prison camps are one of the latest corrective measures that have become increasingly popular among democratic countries. There are no walls or windows with grills, paying special attention to the autonomous lifestyles and respect for human dignity of the prisoner. It is hoped that generous terms such as permission for return visits and options for living together with family members will help preserve the prisoners' dignity, with manual labor helping them to open up their minds, provide physical exercise sessions, and achieve the desired penitentiary objectives.

History: In 20 September 1984, the institution was formally established as an Open-Prison Branch in Shanshang District, Tainan City. In 10 July 1985, the Executive Yuan officially renamed the place as Mingde Minimum-Security Prison. The institution is located at: No. 1, Mingde Shanzhuang, Yufeng Li, Shanshang District
